The Ben Pearce racing stables supplied top weight, Vital Eddition to the Ascot race club meeting on Wednesday, November 11 in a 0 to 72 handicap over 1600 m with apprentice Casey Hunter aboard jumping from barrier one with a field of 11 to compete.
As the starter released Vital Edition jumped in a forward manner and on settling it was Zoetomtaya the early leader, Excellently was second, a length and a half back to Tales Of Summer with a further two lengths to Vital Edition, as the field settled past the thousand in the Perth racing Twitter handicap.
Going past the riverside, Zoetomtaya was still in advance of Excellently with the margin cut down to 1 length as they rounded the bend, Tales Of Summer was coming off their back with Vital Edition patiently ridden by Hunter was sweating on the cutaway rail, which on entering that part of the event, saw Vital Edition take full use of, cruising up alongside the race leaders to narrowly take the lead, Tales Of Summer however was full of momentum and set out to challenge, Vital Edition, and on drawing to the line, saw the pair locked together, with Vital Edition seeming, via the camera angle to have just scored, the judge called for the developed print and was unable to separate the two, handing down the judgement of a dead heat for the major prize.
