The stable prepared five-year-old Brown mare and last year’s winner of the Group 3 La Trice, for this years 1800m event with Peter Hall in charge of the handy galloper, jumping from barrier eight with a field of 11 to compete.

As the starter let them go the race favourite and well supported runner Cosmic Storm  went up in the air up at the start before being let out to land last on settling Champagne Charger took the early lead with Vampi Lass in second, the stable mate to the race favourite Ideal Image was travelling third with Tarquinn Shadow in fourth, via the Riverside.

Coming into the swing en route to the straight Champagne Charger was still momentarily the race leader, Vampi Lass was second with Ideal Image bowling along behind that runner Tarquinn Shadow was four off the fence with Pike angling Cosmic Storm back towards the rail ready to fire a shot as a field straighten for the judge.

Heading into the straight Champagne Charger was under attack by Vampi Lass on its outside with Ideal Image drawing up alongside that runner, and as the field ran towards the concluding stages of the event, Ideal Image careered away to take out the La Trice (GR3) by some four lengths, ahead of Vampi Lass who run a bold and honest race in second with the race favourite doing its best work on the long line, in Cosmic Storm finishing third in front of Tarquinn Shadow the last start winner rounding off in fourth.
