Ben Pearce has accepted with two runners at the Ascot race meeting on Saturday, December 24 with fine conditions forecast racing on a good three with the rail out 3m.
The first of the stable runners Vital Edition will come out in race two in the Perth Ice Works WA St Ledger over 2100m of listed quality with Peter Hall to ride jumping from barrier two in a small field of seven.
Vital Edition is a four-year-old gelding having raced on nine occasions for five wins and four placings earning prize-money in excess of $113,000, recent efforts have been at Ascot on November 29 over 1800 m finishing fifth of 16 with Peter Hall aboard landing three lengths from the winner on that occasion and was last seen at Ascot on December 13 over a mile finishing second of eight in a BM 72 when ridden by Peter Hall finishing 2.25 lengths from the winner in a race time of 1:37.20.
Ben has made a gear adjustment for this outing by adding bar plates.
The second of the stable runners Vampi Lass will come out in race six in the Starbuck classic over 1600 m of listed quality with Alan Kennedy aboard jumping from barrier 10 in a field of 11.
Vampi Lass most recent runs have been all at Ascot with a win coming on November 4 with Peter Hall aboard taking out an F and M 0 to 68 race by one and a half lengths, she raced again at the same venue on November 22 finishing midfield sixth of 12 over 1200 m in the Jungle Mist finishing 2.75 lengths off the winner and was last seen at Ascot on December 6 finishing fourth of 13 over 1400 m in the Jungle Dawn when ridden by Peter Hall landed two lengths off the winner in a race time of 1:23.13.
