Exciting four-year-old Triple Jay returned to winning form third-up from a spell at Ascot on Saturday, whilst stablemate Galaxy Affair also saluted at Geraldton on the same day.
Heavily supported from $4.80 into $2.25 before the running of the Morley Growers Handicap (1200m), Triple Jay was settled one-out and one-back by jockey William Pike before peeling around heels into the clear on straightening.
The gelding had a few lengths to make up but showed brilliant acceleration to hit the lead passing the 100m mark and then pull away to defeat No Change ($91) by a length, with Multinational ($14) a further nose away in third place.
The Oakland Park-bred Triple Jay has now had 12 career starts for four wins, four minor placings and $161,113 in total earnings.
Stablemate Madame Magic ran a fast-finishing third placing in the Listed Sheila Gwynne Classic (1400m) later on the program, while two-year-old filly Rainline finished a narrow second at her second race start.
Meanwhile, Galaxy Affair ($3.90) also hit his straps at his third run for his preparation when taking out the Yandanooka Handicap (1400m) at Geraldton in style.
The gelding was sent straight to the lead by rider Natasha Faithfull and skipped clear from rivals approaching the turn to never look in danger before bolting in by three lengths.
Race-favourite Hammarmill ($2.20) finished in second place, with Patchwork ($7.50) a further three-quarter length away in third.
The victory was Galaxy Affair’s sixth from 25 race starts and takes his career earnings to $152,735.
Pearce Racing has prepared 61 winners in the 2023/24 season to date, the second highest tally by a stable in WA.
