Patronize three-year-old Superior Smile will be Pearce Racing’s sole representative at Belmont’s midweek meeting tomorrow.
Stablemate and last-start winner Caress Your Soul was accepted to race but will be saved for an open three-year-old event at Belmont this Saturday instead.
Superior Smile will race second-up in the Fifth Leg Handicap over 1300m and will be looking to improve on a slightly disappointing result when resuming at Northam on August 17.
The gelding trialled impressively leading into the race, however, was unsuited by the 1000m distance and raced greenly in running.
He looks likely to appreciate the extra distance tomorrow as well as the addition of blinkers.
Aaron Mitchell will take the mount in a fairly open race and the pair appear to have solid each-way claims despite drawing barrier eight in the nine-horse field.
Meanwhile, Team Pearce are in for a busy day at Northam on Thursday with eight runners set to race.
Al Maher colt Money Maher will have his first start since placing in the Group Three WA Sires Produce Stakes in April this year.
