The Ben Pearce racing team supplied 2 runners to the final event at the Ascot race club meeting on Saturday, November 8 with Vital Edition wearing saddlecloth 1 to be ridden by Joe Azzopardi jumping from barrier 4 and Raising Dubai wearing saddlecloth 3 jumping from barrier one with Peter Hall aboard in a field of 10.
As the Argonaut gates flew back Vital Eddition and stablemate Raising Dubai were out worse than midfield as This Cat Rocks lead the way past the 1800m pole Star Crest at the odds was in second outside Andies Boy with Toned bowling along in fourth as the tempo was lack lustre with the order unchanged as the Ben Pearce gallopers sat 5th (Raising Dubai) and last (Vital Edition) as they single filed around back around 1000m from home with Ningaloo Blitz adding some pace into the event to cross This Cat Rocks as Warwick came off heals to head for the judge Toned was in third Savanarola was there as Raising Dubai was ushered along by Hall with Vital Edition circling the field looking for four on the trot.
On straightening it was Ningaloo Blitz with a strong effort from This Cat Rocks as the Ben Pearce pairing of Raising Dubai and Hall and Vital Edition and Azzopardi headed out for the race leader and as they drew to the line it was This Cat Rocks a whisker to Raising Dubai with Vital Edition in third and Andies Boy in fourth with no more than three quarters of a length separating the first four on the line.
