So You Think colt Sky Poet made a splash on debut when taking out the Swan Draught Maiden (1400m) at Pinjarra Scarpside on Thursday.

Jumping a $10 chance with Tash Faithfull aboard, the three-year-old raced fiercely through the early stages of the race and raced wide throughout but was still good enough to reel in his rivals.

He finished powerfully over the final furlong to defeat Batista ($12) by a neck, with race-favourite About Turn ($4.20) a half-length away in third place.

Bred and raced by Neven Botica, the well-bred Sky Poet has been a work in progress but looks a horse with plenty of upside.

The victory was Pearce Racing’s 40th win for the 2025/26 season to date.

The Pearce stable will saddle up a big team at Bunbury’s standalone meeting on Saturday, highlighted by Fear The Wind in the $150,000 Listed Swan Draught Bunbury Cup (2000m) and Talkanco, Sensessional and Oly’s Choice in the $150,000 TABtouch Bunbury Stakes (1400m).
