The Ben Pearce prepared Roman Fighter returned to competitive racing on the Belmont card, Wednesday August 26th, in a 0-68 handicap over 1000 m with the well supported runner jumping from barrier 2 with a field of eight eyeing the prize.

As the field jumped in the Perth racing Twitter handicap it was Park Lane first into stride, Mr African was off its hip in second with the well supported favourite Tudor Bolt in third covering the almost equal elect, in Roman fighter, fourth on the fence as the field settled past the 600m.

Coming to the turn the upfront order was unchanged and as the field turned into the straight it was Park Lane heading for the judge as leader, the cut away appeared for Roman Fighter  with Hall utilizing that option, Harvey on the other hand, had pulled to the centre of the track with Tudor Bolt and began to go out after the leading duo, and although it seemed to be taking an age to catch the Ben Pearce runner, Tudor Bolt arrived at the judge just in time to land today's spoils a head in front of Roman Fighter with Park Lane arriving in third.
