Ben Pearce saddled up the final stable runner in Roman Fighter to compete in race 5, with Paul Harvey aboard jumping from barrier eight with a field of 11 to compete.

As the starter released in the Pam McCabe Memorial handicap over the thousand meter straight, the first runner to step forward was DeAndes, Priceless Cat at odds was second with Unperturbed in third,  Roman Fghter settled fourth as the widest runner closest to the grandstand side.

As the sprint field worked hard towards a result, Roman Fighter began to dig deep under the urgings of Paul Harvey, with 5 or so runners spread across the track, it was the Zentsov Street commodity out of Gale Warning that lifted in the concluding stages, to score by a half neck on the line, to deny the fast finishing Roger The Roman the spoils, with a blanket go for the minor prize landing with Unperturbed on this occasion.

A great result for the ownership group consisting of Mr B M Pearce, Mr T D Forrest, Mr R G Sayers, with Roman Fighters gutsy effort on the straight at Pinjarra on Wednesday.
