Former $10,000 yearling Let’s Galahvant continues to defy the odds after carrying 61kg to victory in the $100,000 Easingwold Stakes (1400m) at Ascot on Saturday.
Having his 17th start of an astonishing campaign which commenced in April 2023, the son of Galah overcome his hefty top-weight impost to extend his brilliant run of form.
Ridden by Chris Parnham, he was backed from $7.50 into $5.50 in the closing minutes before settling one-out and two-back in running and peeling three and four-wide to commence his run turning for home.
The durable gelding hit the front passing the 200m mark and despite conceding five-and-a-half kilos to Vast Art ($3.70), he was able to hold him to the line to score by just under a half-length.
Bruce Almighty ($41) finished a further length away in third place.
The victory was Let’s Galahvant’s third from his past five starts after winning the Listed Northam Cup (1600m) and Listed Carbine Club of WA Stakes (1400m) in October and November respectively.
He’s now had 35 career starts for 11 wins, 10 minor placings and $690,810 in stake and Westspeed Platinum bonus earnings.
The in-form Pearce stable has Ultimate Style and Zing To Win engaged to race at Bunbury on Sunday.
