The well decorated Raising Dubai a six-year-old gelding having start number 38 headed out to race 4 on the Belmont card in a BM 66+ handicap over 1600 m with Ms Jerry Noske aboard jumping from barrier nine with a field of 8 to contest racing on a soft 6.
As the field stood still under the starters orders the gates were released in the Hinds Sand Supplies handicap, with Oakhurst Flyer second up from a spell with first into stride, Shoot For Glory at odds was in second Military Ruler one of the more fancied runners with Willie Pike in charge jumped into third as Ancient Spell a last start winner settled fourth with Raising Dubai taking up a customary roll out the back in the early stages as the field sorted out its order.
Coming to the turn Oakhurst Flyer was still the race leader Shoot For Glory was still prominent in second Ancient Spell was third but just losing a bit of ground, as Military Ruler looked poised to pounce & momentarily Raising Dubai was shuffled in the running with the inform Jerry Noske deciding to gather her runner up to attempt to take closer order, making sure that on straightening the pair were ready to plan their assault, as the field straightened for home.
Into the straight Military Ruler had got off the leaders back and was starting to raise an effort, Raising Dubai however was only certain of his ability and was unaware of the $10-1 odds posted as the beautifully prepared Ben Pearce runner shot clear in the concluding stages and as the ducks scattered across the course proper it was all Raising Dubai with a fantastically solid effort to land the prize under the urgings of Noske with Military Ruler in second with the race favourite Coming Back finishing solidly but all to late to pick up the third prize ahead of the early task setter Oakhurst Flyer.
