The Ben Pearce team saddled up Raising Dubai for race 4, on the final race meeting at Belmont for this season on Saturday, October 11 with fine conditions supplying a track rating of a good three.

Raising Dubai competed in in the Westspeed Stayers Bonus handicap over 2000 m with Peter Hall aboard jumping from barrier three in the field of eight.

On leaving the gates Hall allowed Raising Dubai to be out worse than midfield and going past the post the first circuit it was Young Lionel that was into stride early, leading the field out, Orikkan was in second Prentice was third Bonny Zara had settled in fourth on the fence with Raising Dubai a further length and a half back.

Coming around the back a 1000m from home it was Orikhan that had introduced some speed into the race and in doing so probably made it possible for the fresh legged back markers to participate in the concluding stages, Youn Lionel was second Prentice was third and Minimalist was fourth as Hall waited to flick the switch as they straightened for home.

With 200m to go Hall knuckled his charge down to the task and the fresh legged Raising Dubai answered the call to put a half length on his rivals, to touch down in first place and in doing so making it two staying type races in succession, Bonny Zara landed in second and Young Lionel was third.

Congratulations to the ownership group consisting of Mr C S Pearce, Mr B M Pearce, Mr R Barrett-Lennard, Mr G J Smith, Mr M J Barrett-Lennard, Mr J Barrett-Lennard, Mr K E Mcglinn, Mr S M A Fleming, Mrs B K Jose
