Rommel mare Rainline returned in the best way possible at Ascot on Saturday when taking out the TABtouch Westspeed Platinum Handicap (1200m) by more than four lengths.
Starting a $7.50 chance with star apprentice Holly Nottle aboard at her first race start for five months, the four-year-old began well from barrier one and was able to make every post a winner.
Nottle rated her well in front before slipping her some rein on straightening and she continued to extend her margin the further they went en route to defeating race-favourite Bartime ($3.40) by just over four lengths on the line.
Cobbanco ($8) finished a further long head away in third place.
The victory was only Rainline’s third from 16 career starts but she’s been a consistent type throughout her career with a further seven minor placings and now $202,245 in total earnings to her name.
Later in the day, stablemate Madame Magic finished second in her respective race before star filly Talkanco ran third in the $5 million BYD Quokka (1200m).
The placing boosted the I’m All The Talk three-year-old’s career earnings to $1,154,640, making her the stable’s first ever millionaire, and she’s now set to contest the $1 million The Goodwood (1200m) at Morphettville on May 9.
Friar’s Legacy, Scenic George, Perfectly Proper and Al’s Gal will step out for Pearce Racing at Ascot on Wednesday.
