Perfect Chant made a perfect start to her career at Belmont on Saturday when taking out the Perth Racing Now Hiring Food and Beverage Staff Plate (1200m) on debut.

Unbeaten in two trials leading into the race, the Toronado three-year-old was backed into $2.70 favouritism and was settled outside the leader by jockey Chris Parnham.

The filly hit the front passing the 200m mark and responded to Parnham’s urgings over the late stages to hold off stablemate Blue Rocket ($3.80) by just under a length in a Pearce quinella.

Rise To Glory ($26) finished a further length away in third place.

Purchased by Pearce Racing for $80,000 at the 2023 Perth Magic Millions Yearling Sale, Perfect Chant picked up $65,840 in stake earnings and Westspeed bonuses at her first career start and appears to have an exciting future ahead.

Co-trainers Daniel and Ben Pearce will saddle up Scenic Boom, Hoochie Gucci, Toronado Rocket and Super Romani at Sunday’s Northam meeting.
