Co-trainers Daniel and Ben Pearce will play a strong hand at Ascot today with three good chances engaged.
Talented Street Boss three-year-old Street Fury will make her return in the Penfolds Handicap (1000m) with William Pike aboard.
The filly is a red-hot $1.75 favourite for the event and was tuned up with a 950m Lark Hill trial recently where she wasn’t let off the bridle and finished just a nose second to Jagemup.
She’ll jump from barrier three in only an eight-horse field today and the Pearce camp are confident she’ll prove hard to beat.
Henrythenavigator four-year-old Time To Hunt will be looking to make amends after a disappointing last start when finishing sixth of nine over 2100m as the race favourite.
The Pearce brothers have elected to drop the gelding back in both class and distance for today’s Amelia Park Handicap (1800m) and expect him to improve sharply.
He’s currently on the second line of betting at $2.90 behind Bollinger Boy ($2.70) and will jump from barrier three in a nine-horse field.
Jarrad Noske retains the mount.
Danehill Express mare Cheap Express ($8.00) looks primed to run a big race third-up from a spell when she contests the Perth Racing Club Membership Handicap (1500m) in the final event of the day.
The five-year-old finished one-and-three-quarter lengths second to Capricorn Dancer over an unsuitable 1300m last time out and looks ideally suited stepping up to 1500m today.
She’ll jump from barrier six in a 12-horse line-up with Noske aboard and appears to have solid each-way claims.
The Pearce stable will start Wild Fusion and Mega Minx at Narrogin on Friday before their attention turns to Saturday’s James Boag’s Premium Railway Stakes meeting at Ascot where they have Money Maher, Pushin’ Shapes and Don’tgetcaught engaged.
Money Maher is currently the $4.20 outright-favourite for the $500,000 Group Two Sky Racing WA Guineas (1600m).
