Toorak Toff gelding Trakiato broke his maiden status in dominant fashion at just his second race start at Bunbury on Thursday.

The three-year-old, who drifted in betting from $2.50 to $3.60 pre-race after strong support came for debutant Oriental Rose ($3.00), proved too good for his opposition in the Country Builders WA Maiden (1208m).

Expertly ridden by stable hoop Jarrad Noske who settled the big-striding bay in the one-out, one-back position in running before pulling him to the three-wide line turning for home, Trakiato responded brilliantly when popped the question and romped away to a three-and-a-half length win.

The Last Waltz ($6.70) finished in second place with a further nose back to Anna Amalia ($19.20) in third.

Co-trainers Ben and Dan Pearce have a good opinion of Trakiato and expect him to continue to improve as he gets over more ground.

His maiden win has a sense of timing about it, with the Group Two WATC Derby (2400m) lead-up feature races beginning next month.

Meanwhile, stablemate Mega Minx ($1.90) was unable to score back-to-back wins when finishing third to Supposition ($5.60) in the opening event, the Own The Dream Event Series Handicap (1008m).

The Red Hot Choice mare led her four-horse field before tiring late to be nosed out of second place by Arafura ($3.10), beaten one-and-a-half lengths.

Pearce Racing will start Fraternize and Tenterden at Ascot on Saturday before heading to Mount Barker where Mad Brad, Paradise Square and Nazareth are engaged to race on Sunday.
