Sofia’s Symphony and Let’s Galahvant landed Pearce Racing another winning double at Northam on Thursday when taking out the Pegasus Feeds Maiden (1100m) and Milne Horse Muesli Handicap (1300m) respectively.

Smart Missile three-year-old Sofia’s Symphony ($5.50) produced an impressive display second-up from a spell when charging home from her midfield position to run over the top of her rivals with jockey Joseph Azzopardi aboard.

Azzopardi settled the filly one-out and two-back from barrier three in a field of nine before working into the clear on straightening and she showed a sharp turn of foot to reel in the leader and race-favourite, Exporose ($3.10), before pulling away to win by a length.

Reel Themoff ($11) finished a further three-and-a-quarter lengths away in third place.

Sofia’s Symphony flashed potential when having one start as a two-year-old in February and finishing two-lengths third to subsequent Magic Millions WA 2YO Classic and Group 1 J.J Atkins winner Sheeza Belter at Ascot.

She’s now had three race starts for one win, one minor placing and accumulated $26,130 in earnings including Westspeed bonuses.

The final race on the 10-event card saw stablemate Let’s Galahvant continue his brilliant form when scoring his fourth win of a breakout campaign.

Starting a $2.70 favourite, the Galah four-year-old jumped from barrier one and settled in the box seat with apprentice Taj Dyson aboard before Dyson muscled his way out after straightening for home.

The gelding went straight past the leading brigade to hit the front at the 350m mark and he ran away from his 11 rivals to win by just under three lengths on the line.

Wine Night ($6) finished in second place, with Annihilator ($41) a further nose away in third.

Purchased for only $10,000 at the 2020 Perth Magic Millions yearling sale, Let’s Galahvant has now had 11 career starts for five wins, two minor placings and earnings of $148,825 including Westspeed Platinum bonuses.

Of the other four runners for co-trainers Dan and Ben Pearce on the day, Defending and Anna’s Boy both finished second in their respective races, while Exalted Rockstar finished third.

The Pearce stable have saddled-up 11 winners and 10 placegetters from its past 40 starters.

Meanwhile, Don’t Fuss, Speedy Miss and Probity will fly the flag for the yard at Belmont on Saturday, while Superior Smile will contest the $100,000 XXXX Gold Broome Cup on the same day.

Stablemates Cosmopolitan Girl and Money Twist will travel to the Goldfields to race at Sunday’s Kalgoorlie meeting.
