Pearce Racing prepared a winning double as well as a trifecta in a successful day at Northam on Wednesday.
The stable saddled up six runners on the day and saluted with Art Session and Platinum Shot, whilst Scenic George (second), Exceltrain (second) and Climb On Top (third) also placed in their respective races.
Sessions three-year-old Art Session relished a sharp drop in class when justifying his $1.90 starting price by leading all of the way in the Idolize 1935 Northam Cup Winner Handicap (1100m).
Ridden by apprentice Zephen Johnston-Porter, the gelding bounced straight to the front and made every post a winner after he defeated Lipstick Jungle ($26) by a three-quarter length, with Skytalker ($9.50) just under a further length away in third place.
Art Session has returned to racing in great order this campaign, having recorded two midweek wins and two Saturday placings from his four starts this time in.
He has now had seven career starts for two wins, four minor placings and $114,960 in total earnings.
Meanwhile, Platinum Shot ($3.30) also justified her favouritism when taking out the C U Tomorrow @ Northam Handicap (1300m) in the last event of the day.
The Shooting To Win four-year-old settled four pairs back on the fence with jockey Tash Faithfull aboard and appeared likely to need luck passing the 600m mark before the capacity 16-horse field fanned wide at the turn and Faithfull was able to take full advantage of an inside run.
The mare burst through the opening to put her rivals away in a matter of strides and score by one-and-three-quarter lengths.
Stablemate Exceltrain ($4.40) ran second, with fellow stablemate Climb On Top ($6.50) a further long neck away in third place.
Platinum Shot won first up from a spell on February 28 and has been a model of consistency throughout a durable nine-start campaign which has netted three wins and four minor placings.
The Yarradale Stud-bred mare has now had 26 career starts for five wins, 12 minor placings and $192,234 in total earnings.
The Pearce stable will saddle up Surf Patrol and Eternal Romance at Northam tomorrow before Saturday’s Pinjarra meeting where Rally The Troops, Decoration and Outspoken Lad are engaged.
