Puissance De Lune filly Moonshine Queen broke maiden status when scoring a soft win in the Join The Club – Become A Member Maiden (1400m) at Bunbury on Thursday.
Having only her second lifetime start, the three-year-old jumped the $4.20 second favourite and was positioned beautifully in the one-out and one-back position by jockey Clint Johnston-Porter in running.
The in-form hoop peeled the grey out into the three-wide line approaching the home turn and the pair quickly raced past the leader on straightening before bounding away from their rivals to give Johnston-Porter enough time to sit up and idle her down in the final strides.
Race-favourite Bold Fight ($1.70) finished second, beaten a length, with Sylva Jack ($4.40) a further three-quarter length away in third place.
Purchased by Pearce Racing for $40,000 at the 2024 Perth Magic Millions Yearling Sale, the Geisel Park-bred Moonshine Queen appears to have plenty of upside and the stable don’t expect to see the best of until she gets over a staying distance in the future.
Meanwhile, stablemate Toronado Rocket made an encouraging return to racing when finishing a narrow second at his first race start for almost 12 months later on the Bunbury card.
Pearce Racing has saddled up 13 winners in the first six weeks of the 2025/26 season and will be represented by Noble Connection at Belmont and Outspoken Lad at Carnarvon on Saturday before Sunday’s Northam meeting where Manhattan Strip, Desert Edge, Celebrity Angel and Gingeriffic are engaged.
