Co-trainers Dan and Ben Pearce are confident their Al Maher three-year-old, Money Maher, will appreciate a rise in distance at Ascot today.

The stakes-winning colt recorded the fastest final 600m sectional of the day when finishing fourth first-up over 1400m on February 24 and looks ideally suited stepping up to 1600m in today’s $100,000 Listed Lex Piper Stakes.

Money Maher ($4.40) has drawn the outside barrier in the feature race event, however, will line up in only an eight-horse field following the scratchings of Arctic Stream and The Big Show.

Bob and Sandra Peters-owned gelding, Action, is the current $2.25 favourite.

Jarrad Noske retains the mount aboard Money Maher, who is on a WATC Derby (2400m) path, and will be looking to emulate their performance when taking out the Listed Fairetha Stakes at Ascot last spring.

The Pearce stable have Rebow, a last-start second-placegetter, engaged at tomorrow’s Bunbury meeting.
