Ben Pearce prepared stable runner Mad Brad for the Beaufine Stakes of listed level on Saturday, July 11 with Jerry Noske aboard first up from a spell jumping from barrier two win a field of 11.

On leaving the gates it was Benito second up from a spell to lead the field on settling Rebel King the race favourite albeit a drifter was in second True Storm was third with Crown Lawyer in fourth in the early stages, passing the 600m Mad Brad had two runners behind him as the field sorted themselves out.

Coming to the turn it was still Benito in front Rebel King was second True Storm was in third & Crown Lawyer was fourth and as they prepared the swing Mad Brad now had only one galloper behind him as they straightened for the run in.

On straightening Rebel King went to the lead Rock Magic was the immediate danger with Mad Brad coming off the runners heels to lodge his claim, coming down the middle in the concluding stages, but it was all in vain as Rock Magic  landed the listed prize with Rebel Kiing in second, with the well prepared Mad Brad announcing that he is back for a bright campaign running home strongly to nod out Crown lawyer in fourth, with the latter having to defend a minor protest from 5th.
