Let’s Galahvant scored a career-best victory at Northam on Sunday when producing a terrific performance in the featured $150,000 Listed XXXX Northam Cup (1600m).

Plunged from $7 into $3 outright favouritism, the Galah five-year-old took surpassed $500,000 in total earnings when landing his second stakes success after winning the Hannans Handicap in Kalgoorlie in September 2022.

Ridden by Chris Parnham who rode a winning treble on the day, the durable bay enjoyed a gun run leaders-back in transit before getting momentarily held up on straightening but was good enough to muscle his way through a gap passing the 200m mark and finish powerfully.

He pulled away over the late stages to defeat race-leader Pompey ($3.80) by a three-quarter length, with Casino Seventeen ($4.80) a further length away in third place.

Let’s Galahvant reeled off a slick 33:97 last 600m sectional, the fastest of the race, and was able to tick the 1600m box when bringing up his first win over a mile and giving co-trainers Daniel and Ben Pearce their second win in the race following Pushin’ Shapes’ success in 2018.

Purchased for only $10,000 in the 2020 Perth Magic Millions sale, Let’s Galahvant has now had 31 career starts for nine wins, eight minor placings and $541,110 in stake and Westspeed Platinum earnings.
