Prolific-winning gelding Let’s Galahvant scored the fifth win of his campaign at Belmont on Saturday when taking out the TABtouch – Westspeed Platinum Handicap (1300m).

Having his 10th start of a lengthy preparation, the Galah four-year-old started a $3.10 favourite and settled in the box seat for apprentice Holly Watson before peeling off the rail turning for home and mowing down his rivals to win by just under a length.

Ain’t No Other Man ($6.50) finished second, with Astro Warrior ($4.40) a further head away in third place.

Let’s Galahvant finished seventh first-up in a Class One at Pinjarra on May 5 and has since made rapid progress, producing five wins, two minor placings and top-four finishes at each of his subsequent nine runs.

Purchased for only $10,000 at the 2020 Perth Magic Millions yearling sale, the gelding’s first Saturday victory takes his career record to 13 starts for six wins, three minor placings and $187,300 in stake earnings and bonuses.

Pearce Racing have now prepared 10 winners in the first five weeks of the 2022/23 season, placing them at the top of the state’s overall leaderboard.

The stable will saddle-up Wise Word’s at Sunday’s Kalgoorlie meeting.
