The team at Ben Pearce racing supplied three-year-old chestnut Filly Le Patron to race seven on the Ascot card with Paul Harvey aboard jumping from an awkward barrier nine with a field of 11 to compete.
After a brief delay with Forever Diamonds playing up in the stalls, the vet was called upon, casting an eye, before being reloaded and cleared to start, and as the starter let them go in the Dr Allen Aylett OBE Volkswagen event over 1200m.
The early race leader was Corvara, next was Brisanto with Express Boy third, Miss Pleasant was fourth and although Le Patron jumped towards the front early, was eased back by Harvey on settling past the riverside. Leading into the turn , Corvara, a last start winner seemed to be toying with the rivals, Brisanto was chasing in earnest with Express Boy still third, Miss Pelsart at big odds was running a cheeky race as Harvey instructed his ride Le Patron to take closer order and began to make up lengths on its competitors midway down the straight.
With 150m to go the favourite looked spent, between runners saw Brisanto come through with a strong bustling run and on drawing to the line landed the prize by half a length, with the fast finishing Le Patron whom was given time in the straight to balance up finished on strongly on this occasion to land in second with Miss Plesart, at $120-1 landed in the third division on this occasion.
