Last start winner Le Patron attempted to go back to back today at Belmont in a three-year-old NMW handicap over a thousand metres with Jarrad Noske the pilot competing in a field of 13 jumping from barrier 12.

After an even dispatch the inside drawn runners, forged their way forward in the early stages, with the race leader being Steal The Light at big odds, Let's Go Disco was second with Esperanca in third Tree Huggen Hippy was fourth, Le Patron was out wide from the awkward draw with Noske, attempting to find a way in with no luck coming, forcing Le Patron to travel deep for the entirety of the event.

Steal The Light ran on in the straight and displayed an effort that was well above the odds that were posted, Le Patron ran on ever so gamely with another solid effort but was unable to pick up the first starter Steal The Light with Le Patron going down by a neck with Esperanca in third.
