Le Patron was saddled up to compete in race 2 on the Belmont card to compete on a soft 5 over 1200 m in a three-year-old handicap second up from a spell with Joe Azzopardi aboard jumping from barrier one.
As the field vacated the stalls in the National Jockeys Trust Race Day, sixth of August event the first runner to land was Le Petron, Laurensen soon took over with Invincible Man second, Uptown Funk was in third position, with the odds on pop State Solicitor also there in advance of Le Patron who had settled on the fence from barrier one.
Coming into the straight it was the well supported race favourite State Solicitor whom hit the lead under the urging’s of William Pike to cruise away to score in fine fashion in advance of Le Patron who ran on strongly in the concluding stages to fend off the challenges to arrive in second in advance of Uptown Funk & You’re A Rum’in in fourth.
