Too Darn Hot three-year-old White Hot broke through for her first win at Kalgoorlie on Sunday when justifying her short-priced favouritism in the Thank You Miles Contracting Maiden (1200m).
Backed from $3.20 into $1.85 prior to the jump, the filly was sent straight to the lead by jockey Tash Faithfull and was able to dictate terms before kicking away on straightening.
She never looked in danger en route to defeating He’s A Firecracker ($71) by one-and-a-half lengths on the line, with Rattle The Cage ($6) a further neck away in third place.
Bred and raced by Oakland Park Stud, White Hot was having the fifth start of her campaign and appreciated a drop in grade after some honest performances in the metropolitan area.
Out of former Kalgoorlie Cup winner Shinta Mani which provides some synergy with her breaking her maiden at the same track, the filly has now had seven career starts for a win and three minor placings.
Meanwhile, stablemate Alebrije ($16) ran a close third later on the Kalgoorlie program.
The Pearce stable will saddle up Richanco and Sinful Living in Saturday’s $125,000 Listed Beaufine Stakes (1000m) at Belmont Park.
