The Ben Pearce prepared Don'tgetcaught headed out in race 5 in the Perth Ice Works Hcp over 1600m with Alan Kennedy to pilot jumping from barrier 12 in a field of 12.

As the runners exited the gates it was Carrillo the last start winner leading the mile trip Convoluted at odds was in second three quarters of length behind the leader King Of Wu in third position with Kansas fourth on the rail with Don'tgetcaught out the back in the early stages pulling for reign under the control of Kennedy with around 9 lengths to make up traveling round the River side.

The order was unchanged with the exception of Striking Back, and race favorite Low Tide whom had moved up the order to introduce pace into the race  and head for home under the guidance of Pike with Alan Kennedy moving out to be the widest runner with a huge task ahead to catch the leader with 8 lengths to make up on entering the straight.

Low tide was beginning to shorten stride midway down the straight with the beautifully prepared Don'tgetcaught running on under the guidance of Kennedy, and as they reached the Ascot finishing post it was a typically timed Kennedy finish, landing the prize for connections with Low Tide second and King Of Wu arriving for third.
