The Ben Pearce prepared Don’tgetcaught took part in race five on the Ascot program on Saturday, December 12 with a BM 60+ handicap over 2200 m to be held under fine conditions the track rated a good three for the event with the last start winner to be ridden by Jerry Noske jumping from barrier six in a field of 10.

As the field left the gates in the “Sponsor A Race Perth Racing” distance event Don’tgetcaught was slow to begin with Jerry, easing back to the tail of the field as the runners went past the post the first circuit.

Leaving the turn for the first time, it was Successful Spin the race leader Pollonize was next with Shinta Mani on the rail as Go Tiger loomed one off the fence in fourth position, as the field went over the crossing Don’tgetcaught sat back on the fence sitting in third last position.

Via the tower nothing had changed with Successful Spin, still in advance of Pollonize in second, Shinta Mani was in third passing the riverside with Go Tiger still one off the fence in fourth position with Don’tgetcaught unchanged from the earlier call still bowling along in third last position.

Into the straight Successful Spin lead, Go Tiger had moved up on the outside leaving pollonize on the inside of the leading duo with Don’tgetcaught crawling over the back of the runners in front as Savanarola and Entrechat entered the fray with their runs out deep on the track, fighting for the lead, head up head down, the pair went stride for stride with Savanarola, sticking the neck down at a vital stage to beat Entrechat for the main prize, leaving Don’tgetcaught doing his best work late in the event, landing the third prize-money.
