Pierro filly A Summer Fling recorded a smart win at Pinjarra Park on Boxing Day when leading all the way in the Country Comfort Maiden (1200m).

The three-year-old was backed into $1.40 favouritism off the back of an encouraging runner-up finish to the undefeated Like Clockwork on debut at Ascot on December 10 and never looked in danger when making every post a winner.

Ridden by Chris Parnham, the bay jumped from barrier three and bounced straight to the lead before shaking off her rivals on straightening and then lengthening nicely to defeat My Danny Boy ($5.50) by two-and-a-quarter lengths.

Partay ($9) finished a further two-and-a-quarte lengths away in third place.

A Summer Fling was purchased by Pearce Racing for $100,000 at the 2024 Gold Coast Magic Millions Yearling Sale and won her three barrier trials across two preparations prior to making her race debut.

The well-bred filly has now had two starts for a win and a second.

The Pearce stable will saddle up Rally The Troops, Kidding Me, Art Session and Alebrije at Sunday’s Bunbury meeting.
