Divine Prophet three-year-old Dirty Chai made a promising start to her career at Pinjarra on Thursday when scoring an impressive win on debut.
Unbeaten in two trials, the filly was backed into $1.90 favouritism in the State Wide Turf Services Mandurah Cup 31 Dec Maiden (1200m) and settled outside of the leader, Crucial Metal ($8), with champion jockey William Pike aboard.
Crucial Metal gave a good kick on straightening and led to the 100m mark but Dirty Chai knuckled down strongly to reel her in and pull away over the final stages to win by a length.
Finchy ($51) finished a further half-length away in third place.
Purchased for $35,000 at the 2021 Gold Coast Magic Millions National Yearling Sale, Dirty Chai has always been held in high regard by Daniel and Ben Pearce and appears to have a bright future ahead.
The Pearce stable currently sits three wins clear at the top of the state trainers’ premiership and have Queen Alina, Roch Legacy and Fiorucci Mama engaged at Saturday’s Ascot meeting.
