The Ben Pearce team took Danablue to the Belmont race club meeting on Saturday, September 27 with Alan Kennedy to ride in race five in the Irish day at Belmont Park October 4 handicap over 1200 m with the pair jumping from barrier seven in a field of 13.
On leaving the gates Danablue received a nice shove from a fellow runner without causing a drama as Kennedy put the Ben Pearce prepared runner in a positive forward position as the field sorted itself out with Our Pu Bear in first Just Envy Her in second Danablue was three out in third position with Pharomac in fourth passing the 600m mark.
Coming to the 200m, Danablue was full of running and swooped to the lead down the middle and despite a back marker effort by Miss Rose De Lago and Fonzarelli, it was all Danablue landing the prize by three quarters of a length in a time of 1:13.14 with the last 600m in 36.55.
