Connections of four-year-old chestnut gelding Corse He’s Quick by Discorsi out of Quicksand were delighted with the training efforts of the Ben Pearce runner on Thursday the 12th, of May, as the big fella finally broke the maiden status at start number 6, under a great ride by Paul Harvey.
Jumping in a forward position from the get go, Harvey had a look at the runners around him and with most being at odds, allowed their role to play out, patiently sitting in fourth position as the Ben Pearce prepared runner awaited instructions as the race draw near to a close. Coming to the turn Harvey steered off the rump of the leading duo (Albingia and Akka Singa) and headed for home, the runners spread across the track, as Corse He’s Quick loomed up to take the lead.
Back towards the inside the challenges were out to chase down the race leader Corse He’s Quick, Shadablaze, Usherette & Scandavista were all tightened for room, as Corse He’s Quick was left to himself, and under a perfect ride by Harvey landed the prize in advance of Shadablaze with Usherette in third.
Ben has displayed time and patience with the galloper & has tweaked away with the horse to having him racing ultra competitive, Ben commented “he as always displayed nervous tendencies from the start, and went through a lot of shin soreness issues, with he’s only bad run turning out to be a victim of that, this time through though he has been an improving type, & I still don’t think he has a full handle on what it’s all about, so there’s still scope to improve”.
Congratulations to the ownership group consisting of Mr B M Pearce, Mrs R S Blyth, Mr D S Emmerson, Mr C S Pearce, The Border Connection.
