Connections of three-year-old Cheap Express will be chomping at the bit for the Danehill Express filly, to enter second up for this preparation, after putting in a solid effort in race 2 on return from a spell on the Pinjarra card ridden by Joe Azzopardi.
With the field dispatching Cheap Express settled towards the tail of the field in the Sky Thoroughbred Central maiden over 1200 m with the well supported race favourite True Dragon leading the field out.
On turning for home, Hinchinbeel loomed up to take the lead, but was under the persuaded by Paul Harvey to stay there, He’s Packing on debut had come out of the pack, putting in the big ones under hard riding by William Pike, Cheap Express had it all to do at the top of the straight but made up a stack of ground in the concluding stages to land at the post a length behind the race winner, He’s Packing to finish second first up from a spell, with a tight finish for third seeing Hinchinbeel hang on, in advance of Regal Quatro at big odds.
