Progressive four-year-old Richanco kicked off his spring campaign with a bang at Bunbury on Wednesday when taking out the Nixon Electrical Handicap (1200m).
Backed into raging $1.70 favouritism before the jump, the Rich Enuff gelding was sent straight to the lead by jockey Chris Parnham and made every post a winner when kicking away from his rivals on straightening to defeat Ton Of Grunt ($13) by one-and-a-half lengths.
Solar System ($6) finished a further half-length away in third place.
Richanco put the writing on the wall for his first-up victory with a smart trial win at Lark Hill on September 24 and is quickly building an impressive race record.
He’s now had four career starts for three wins and a third placing, with his only defeat coming at the hands of subsequent Listed winner, Brave Spirit.
Pearce Racing will saddle up Wineaclocksumwhere, Sun Kosi, Scenic Boom, Manhattan Jewel and Hoochie Gucci at York on Thursday before the first Ascot meeting of the season on Saturday where stablemates Manavendra, Decoration, Outspoken Lad, Defending and Sinful Living are engaged.
