The Ben Pearce prepared Bomber Bay headed out in the first event on the Ascot race card in CG and E 0 to 68 handicap over 1400 m with Clint Johnston-Porter aboard jumping from barrier five in a field of seven.
As the starter let them go in the Salinger handicap, to kick off the race day on a soft five, Bomber Bay went up in the air Tiger Red lead the field out with Minimalist in second Profound Effect was third, Stocks was in fourth position as the field settled with Bomber Bay out the back after a tardy dispatch.
Into the straight Tiger Red lead the field Minimalist was still there, Profound Effect was not having any, Secret Display was back on the rail with Johnston-Porter looking for an out on Bomber Bay, on straightening Tiger Red kicked well clear Bomber Bay was out in pursuit, momentarily, held up for a run unable to get through in the meantime Stocks had cleared out to chase the race leader, Bomber Bay was coming between runners and on hitting line…… It was Stocks who had the uninterrupted run to the post landing the prize with Tiger Red falling in second with Bomber Bay so unlucky in third.
