The well supported Bomber Bay contested race 2 at the Ascot meeting on Saturday, April 18 in a three-year-old 1MW handicap over 1200 m with Ben Patterson the pilot of the last start winner jumping from barrier five in a field of eight.
As the field settled in passing Riverside backdrop it was Dylicious Secret leading the way Hell Of A Story was out on a limb with Leonorasensation on the rail North Ridge on its outer with the Ben Pearce prepared runner, watching things all unwind before them as the field made there way round the side.
The role that was being played out was unchanged with Dylicious Secret still in charge, Hell Of A Story was still camped off the leaders girth with North Ridge a length behind Leonorasensation was tucked in on the rail, waiting for an out as Patterson started to stoke up his charge with the field beginning to straighten for the run in.
Into the straight the order was unchanged until midway down the straight when North Ridge kicked clear under hands and heels riding by Pike with Leonorasensation winding up positively to second, as the only back marker making any intrusion towards the leader was Bomber Bay, but as the field closed in on the line it would be North Ridge the victor on the day, Leonorasensation landed in second with Bomber Bay finishing gamely down the outside to arrive in third position.
