Blue Point filly Blue Rocket returned to the winner’s list at Geraldton on Sunday when scoring an authoritative victory in the Emu Creek Gardens and Venue Centre Handicap (1200m).
The three-year-old had finished second at her first three runs back from a spell but was able to go one better courtesy of a nice ride by jockey Tash Faithfull who has now ridden on four occasions for two wins and a second.
The duo jumped from barrier one and tracked the leader through the early stages of the race before peeling to its outside passing the 800m mark and then hitting the front on straightening before bolting in by two lengths under a hold.
Gold Keeper ($9) finished second, with Moorumbine ($20) a further three-quarter length away in third place.
The Oakland Park-bred Blue Rocket obtained valuable black type when finishing third in last year’s Group 2 Karrakatta Plate and has now had 13 career starts for two wins, seven minor placings and $246,060 in total earnings.
Pearce Racing will saddle up Kiralui and Kermit’s Luck at Pinjarra Scarpside on Wednesday.
