Starring Knight brought up his ninth career win at Geraldton on Friday when taking out the Walkaway Tavern Handicap (1400m).

Fresh off a victory at the same track 12 days earlier, the Shooting To Win six-year-old started the $2.50 favourite and was given a lovely ride by jockey Tash Faithfull when positioned one-out and one-back from barrier three.

The gelding peeled three-wide turning for home before racing past the leaders midway down the straight and finding plenty over the late stages to defeat his main danger in Sure No Something ($3.70) by a three-quarter length.

Minus Looks ($51) finished a further two lengths away in third place.

Purchased by Pearce Racing for $140,000 at the 2020 Perth Magic Millions sale, the Amelia Park-bred Starring Knight has now raced 34 times for nine wins, five minor placings and $215,822 in total earnings.

The Pearce stable will saddle up Exceltrain in Saturday’s $100,000 Mandurah Cup (1400m) at Pinjarra before Sunday’s Bunbury meeting where Scenic George and Noble Connection are engaged.

Stablemate Let’s Galahvant will contest the $1 million Group 2 Perth Cup (2400m) at Ascot on New Years Day.
