Ben Pearce accepted Mad Brad to the Belmont turf club meeting on Saturday, September 13 with improved weather conditions upgrading the track to a good three for an eight card event, with the Ben Pearce prepared galloper coming out in race 7 over 1400 m with Joe Azzapardi to ride jumping from barrier one.

On  leaving the gates Joe had his charge out worse than midfield from the good draw to sit on the plastic, Lord Hatras led the field out Convoluted at odds was in second Zonte was third with the former eastern state galloper Chilly Reception in fourth.

Coming round the side the order was fairly much unchanged with the first three remaining out  in front, Scartilla was on the improve and Mad Brad was on its inner looking for a way home on rounding the turn heading past the 600m.

Heading for the judge it would be Blue Palace running on from behind to land the prize 0.25 of a length in front of Chilly Reception with Mad Brad maintaining the run to finish third just in front of Zonte.

The time for the run was 1:24.13 with the last 600 m clocked at 36.39.
