Amongstgoodcompany competed, 2nd up to run third in the Zurich Maiden over 1420 m with Peter Hall aboard decamping from barrier (2).
On leaving the stalls, Amongstgoodcompany was in a handy position sitting fourth on the rail, behind Endless Spin, Bushfire Blonde and Regal Class with the field spread out many lengths on passing the tower.
Approaching the corner Endless Spin led, Bushfire Blonde was next with Amongstgoodcompany back towards the inside, to be revved up by Hall.
The leader was now Bushfire Blonde, who was joined by Regal Class, with that duo settling down to fight out the concluding stages, Bushfire Blonde gained control at the race’s entirety, to worry Regal Class out of it, leaving Amongstgoodcompany the third runner in.
