Pearce Racing and jockey Tash Faithfull combined for a winning double from two starters at Albany on Thursday after Famous Dain and Wineaclocksumwhere saluted.
Both bred by Oakland Park, Famous Dain ($1.75) scored an emphatic victory in the Nutrien Ag Solutions Albany Handicap (1900m) when justifying his shirt-priced favouritism with a dominant performance.
The Shamus Award four-year-old settled outside the leader before exploding away on straightening and defeating Alberich ($19) by five-and-a-half lengths, with Oddoneout ($10) a further length away in third place.
The consistent Famous Dain has returned two wins, a third and a fifth from four starts this campaign and has now had 15 career starts for three wins, six minor placings and $79,802 in total earnings.
Two races later Wineaclocksumwhere ($5) landed Faithfull her fourth winner for the day when taking out the Nutrien Ag Solutions Albany Handicap (1230m).
The Sessions three-year-old jumped from barrier nine of 10 but a positive ride saw him land outside the leader and he responded to Faithfull’s urgings over the final stages and was able to hold off race-favourite God Has Drifted ($2.60) by a long head.
The duo gapped the remainder of the field, with Vonsnip ($13) a further four lengths away in third place.
Winealocksumwhere was also racing fourth-up from a spell and has now had nine career starts for two wins, three minor placings and $55,716 in total earnings.
The Pearce stable will saddle up Perfectly Proper in Saturday’s $200,000 Group 3 Quayclean WA Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m) at Ascot, with Sinful Living, Manavendra and Pull The Trigger also engaged in support races on the nine-event card.
Stablemates Triple Jay, Black Fantasy and Ginger Baker will line up in Sunday’s $200,000 Group 3 TABtouch Northam Stakes (1300m).
