Daniel and Ben Pearce celebrated their 400th win as a training partnership at Belmont on Saturday when the progressive Triple Jay took out the Bisley Workwear Handicap (1200m) in style.

After combining forces to launch Pearce Racing at the commencement of the 20217/18 season, the brothers have built their stable into one of WA’s largest and most powerful operations and finished in the top 20 in the Australian trainers’ leaderboard last season.

Ridden by Brad Parnham, Street Boss four-year-old Triple Jay ($5.50) brought up the stable milestone after sitting second in running on a solid tempo and still being strong through the line to defeat race-favourite Yonga Lass ($3.80) by one-and-a-half lengths.

Too Dardy ($4.40) finished a further neck away in third place.

Triple Jay displayed tactical versatility after coming from off the speed to win two starts prior and then finishing a close third after being posted three-wide without cover at his most recent outing.

Bred and part-owned by Oakland Park Stud, the gelding has now had 14 career starts for five wins, five minor placings and $211,992 in total earnings.

The win was the Pearce yard’s 71st for the 2023/24 season – placing it in second position in the state leaderboard with less than six weeks remaining.
