Zoustar mare Wise Words landed her second win of her preparation at Kalgoorlie on Sunday when leading from go-to-whoa in the Goldfields Stock Feeds Handicap (1100m).
Ridden by Natasha Faithfull, the four-year-old started the $2.50 favourite off the back of a strong third placing and jumped straight to the front to control proceedings before finding another gear over the final furlong.
Main danger Town Hall ($3.30) chased hard to run second by a three-quarter length, with Talk It Up ($4) a further half-length away in third place.
Wise Words’ campaign at Pearce Racing’s Kalgoorlie satellite stable has proven to be fruitful with her five starts so far netting two wins and a minor placing, taking her career record to 27 starts for four wins, nine minor placings and $121,148 in stake earnings.
Pearce Racing has now prepared 70 winners in the 2022/23, some 10 more than the partnership’s previous personal best and with more than two months of the season still remaining.
Meanwhile, stablemates Manavendra, Zing To Win, King Of France, Sabbatical Silk and Dirty Chai kick off a big week for the stable at Wednesday’s Belmont meeting, with Exalted Rockstar, All Brave, Who Be Whatee, Galaxy Affair and Charcoal Chaos engaged to race at Northam on Thursday before a swag of runners line up over the coming weekend.
