Stable newcomer Westriver Miracle made a nice start to his career under the care of Pearce Racing when first-up in the Amelia Park Handicap (1400m) at Belmont on Wednesday.
The strapping son of All American landed his third career when when starting a $3.20 favourite and being given the run of the race by leading jockey Chris Parnham in the box seat after jumping from barrier two.
Parnham elected to stick to the cutaway on straightening and the pair let down with a strong finish to over-run Lucky Heart ($6) and score by a long-neck.
Jarman ($14) finished a further one-and-a-half lengths away in third place.
A lightly-raced type having only had seven career starts, Westriver Miracle looks a progressive four-year-old who should continue to improve over more ground.
Meanwhile, Pearce-trained three-year-olds Black Fantasy and Outspoken Lad occupy first and second favouritism in Saturday’s $125,000 Listed Aquanita Stakes (2000m) at Belmont, with stablemates Dig Deep, Let’s Galahvant and Don’t Fuss also engaged in support races on the nine-event card.
