The Pearce yard’s good form over the past week continued at Belmont on Wednesday when landing a winning double and quinella from three runners.

Debutants Outspoken Lad ($4.40) and Black Fantasy ($8) kicked off the day in the best way possible for the stable when finishing one-two in the opening event on the card, the Free Entry To Belmont Park Handicap (1300m).

Outspoken Lad, an Awesome Rock three-year-old who is a half-brother to Group 3 and multiple Listed winner Lady Cosmology, jumped from barrier two with William Pike aboard and stalked the speed before levelling up to race-leader Yemen Lass ($18) passing the 200m mark.

The big gelding pulled right away over the concluding stages to defeat his fast-finishing stablemate by two-and-three-quarter lengths, with race-favourite My Fury ($2.05) a further length away in third place.

Two races later the Pearce brothers’ new stable addition, Love Drunk Baby ($4.40), followed up an impressive recent Lark Hill trial win with a smart first-up victory in the Iron Jack Maiden (1200m).

The Bradbury’s Luck four-year-old was having only his second race start and led from go-to-whoa for jockey Joseph Azzopardi, defeating The Lady Is A Vamp ($4) by just over a length.

Barantian ($26) finished a further two lengths back in third.

The Pearce stable have saddled-up four winners and a second placing from its seven runners over the past seven days.
