Bradbury’s Luck four-year-old justified his short-priced favouritism when leading all-the-way in Yondalee Farms Handicap (1300m) at Mount Barker on Friday.
Backed into $1.70 after three scratchings brought the field down to only six runners, the gelding jumped straight to the lead for in-form hoop Clint Johnston-Porter before railing nicely on straightening and kicking clear.
Main rival Juliette ($4) loomed large half-way down the straight to give a brief scare but Love Drunk Baby was able to shake her off to score by just over a half-length on the line, with a four-length gap back to Pyro ($26) in third place.
The lightly-raced bay has now had eight career starts for two wins and two minor placings.
The Pearce stables’ only other runner on the day, Secret Lair ($3), finished third in the Rumbalara Pastoral Maiden (1100m) after hitting the line well in a race dominated by the leading brigade.
Stablemates Outspoken Lad, Black Fantasy and Celebrity Witness are set to race at today’s WA Oaks meeting at Ascot.
