Group 3-winning filly Agent Pippa returned to the winner’s stall with a dominant all-the-way win at Ascot opening day on Saturday.
The Demerit three-year-old was rewarded for a consistent campaign where she had finished runner-up on consecutive occasions prior to a last-start fifth placing in the Bunbury 3YO Classic on October 13 when gunned down late to be beaten by just over a length at the finish.
Agent Pippa ($5.50) sprung the gates for regular rider Joseph Azzopardi in the Crown Towers Handicap (1000m) on Saturday and led from go-to-whoa, defeating the fast-finishing race favourite, Masquarade ($2.10), by two lengths.
The Nicconian ($7.50) finished a further nose away in third place.
The win extends Agent Pippa’s solid race record to three wins and three minor placings from just eight starts, taking her career earnings to in excess of $270,000 including Westspeed bonuses.
The filly is now likely the progress to the $150,000 Group 3 Prince Of Wales Stakes (1000m) at Ascot on November 3, where the Weight-For-Age scale will see her carry just 51.5kg.
