Talented three-year-old Angelic Ruler scored the first stakes win of her career at Bunbury on Sunday when taking out the $100,000 Listed Rangeview Stud Classic (1400m).
The home-bred Universal Ruler filly, out of the Pearces’ former good race mare Tip The Angel, justified her white-hot $1.60 favouritism by clocking the fastest final 600m sectional of the feature event (33.98sec) en route to defeating Final Hearing ($6.20) by three-quarters of a length.
Regal Power ($11.20) finished a further three-quarters of a length away in third place.
The dominant Listed win was Angelic Ruler’s fifth victory from nine career starts and she has now accumulated earnings of more than $370,000, including Westspeed bonuses.
Co-trainers Ben and Daniel Pearce have announced eastern states plans for the filly, with the autumn three-year-old fillies feature race series in Victoria now firmly on the agenda.
Meanwhile, Sunday’s stakes win brought up the second leg of a race-to-race double for the Pearce stable, with Blackfriars four-year-old Friar’s Fantasia ($2.00) winning second-up from a spell in the Duncan Equine Group Handicap (1400m) in the race prior.
The mare has now recorded two wins and three minor placings from her eight career starts.
Pearce Racing have produced 28 winners from their 157 runners so far this season, returning a winning strike rate of 18 per cent.
