The Ben Pearce racing team nominated last start winner Forbidden Planet for a two-year-old No Metropolitan Winner handicap over 1200 m with overcast conditions racing on a soft five saw Jerry Noske the pilot jumping from barrier 2 with the handy Planet Five commodity competing against a field of 11 runners.
As the field left the gates in the Westspeed Plate it was Krypto Kid having start number two leading the field out, third up from a spell at big odds, Tommy Who was in second position with the well supported Tommy Who a first starter with Willie Pike in charge landed in third, Forbidden Planet was one off the fence and marching on in fourth position with Forty Four Red shadowing the Ben Pearce juvenile, as the field spread out single file passing the 600m, with 600m ahead of them.
Coming to the turn it was still Krypto Kid the race leader Outright was still there Tommy Who was one off the rail with Forty Four Red coming off its rump, as Jerry Noske just slid her mount off the back of the leading trio, to sit on the plastic waiting for the cutaway rail in the straight.
Heading round the bend and into the straight the field panned wide Tommy Who was prominent Krypto Kid was still the race leader Forty Four Red was running a cheeky with Witness In Court running on as Forbidden Planet was introduced to the cut away rail under the urgings of Ms Noske.
Into the open straight, Krypto Kid led for home Tommy Who cruised up to be in second position with Forbidden Planet looking like running into the Bronze, but as Noske put the whip away and knuckled down to hands and heals riding, the smart individual respond climbing up off the canvas to deliver the knockout punch to his rivals, to chalk up win number 2 in back to back fashion for the connections consisting of Mr D J Bishop, Mr B P Nelligan, Mr B M Pearce, Mr S A Preen, Mr P K Huckle, Mr C Stewart, Mr J Woolhead, Mr T L Myers, Krypto Kid landed the silver in front of Tommy Who that peaked on his run in the concluding stages of the event. A great result for a well prepared thoroughbred.
